Mission Codename About to 💣
Well, this has to be the COOLEST (well, and possibly the hottest too) wine we have ever offered!
For those who dig scores, how about a 98+ Vinous and a fresh off the press 97 Wine Spectator?
Since the inaugural 1988 vintage, only made in a few thousand magnums (until 2016 when they started other formats including these regular sized HAND NUMBERED bottles that they call demi-magnums) it has been one of the least heard of yet most sought after cult Super Tuscans ever.
Caberlot is not a blend - nor a gimmicky name - but a truly unique natural crossing, a ‘love child’ made in the vineyard if you will, between… you guessed it, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
In the upcoming issue of Wine Spectator this wine was picked as a Best of the Best whereby “Our editors profile the world’s greatest wine regions and guide you to the wines and wineries leading the way. Of the myriad growing regions and wine varieties beloved by our readers and covered in-depth by our editors each year, a select few like Il Caberlot stand out for track records of excellence over many years, benchmark wines that express terroir, and forward thinking in the vineyards and cellars that sets global standards for sustainability for future generations, among other achievements.”
Here is the full backstory in vivid detail. SECURE YOUR BOTTLES FIRST before reading because we were allocated only 10 cases (and we’ve been drinking from them!)
Oh, and also, if you haven’t witnessed this unicorn blowing our little minds at our HQ studios yet, head to our Instagram page.
The press says the rest…
98+ Points – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous “The 2021 Caberlot is a wine of mind-blowing intensity, complexity and nuance. Red cherry, plum, orange peel, spice, licorice, cedar and new leather are some of the many notes that grace this exquisite, resonant wine. It’s hard to remember many vintages in which Caberlot has this much fruit intensity, aromatic explosiveness and freshness. It is a riveting, absolutely stunning wine from the Rogosky family. Even with all of its intensity, the 2021 is not a huge nor opulent wine, but rather, it is the wine’s energy and intense minerality that really stand out. I look forward to tasting this again in the future, as I may be underrating it. Drink 2029-2041”
97 Points, Hot Wine – Wine Spectator “Impressive for its purity and perfume, this red exudes violet, black currant, blackberry, cedar, iron and pencil shaving aromas and flavors. Elegant and harmonious, like a fine thread of silk from beginning to end. Shows superb definition and length, with a complex aftertaste. Best from 2027 through 2045. 640 cases made, 110 cases imported.”
