Cellar Stocker: Library Bordeaux Blowout! 📚 (SHHHH!)
How Cellar Stocker works
🍷 We have far less of each wine that normal daily offers. We’ll email each time a new wine drops at the top of each hour.
🍷 If a wine sells out, it will stay up until the next wine appears at the top of the following hour. If it doesn’t sell out, we’ll drop it into the Store for the rest of the day.
🍷 Sign up for our text messages and download our iOS app for a few exclusive offers during the day.
🍷 Make sure to fully checkout with any wine you want. Adding it to your cart does not secure your ownership. You must pay for it and add the wine to your Locker or ship it as a single order immediately!
A bevy of back-vintage Bordeaux wines has taken over Wine Spies HQ. One by one, we’ll drop a new wine each hour, on the hour. At the end of the day, if there’s anything left, we’ll flood the store with the remains for the pickings.
SIX WINES on deck (and a crazy APP EXCLUSSIVE). All aged a decade or more, checked out by our crack team of experts and determined to be of perfect provenance, matured to perfection yet ready to lay down further, as you see fit!
Left Banks, Right Banks, and one ultra-special Sauternes – a range of styles but all classics – and all available today at Top-Secret prices (one more than half off!). If you love classic Bordeaux, consider yourself a value-conscious collector, a history buff, or just a plain old Cabernet fiend who has always wondered why critics rave about the region’s wines, today is for you!
We begin by stepping back twenty-six years, to one of the top properties in all of Bordeaux…
“One of the great sleepers of the vintage and probably the best Clos de Marquis I have ever tasted, this wine could easily compete with many of the vintage’s classified growths.” – Robert M. Parker, Jr.
Léoville Las Cases in one of the most recognizable, sought after properties in the Medoc.
Sited next to Latour, their iconic gate facing the highway, many consider it to be ‘the 6th First Growth’.
Today, this bottling from them, at UNDER $100, from the LEGENDARY 2000 VINTAGE?!
You just don’t find deals like this.
Let’s explain. Since 1902 they have made a separate wine off a part of the vineyard a little bit inland from the walled off vines that make the Grand Vin. BUT it was still part of the historic Léoville estate, surrounded by the other second growths that bear that name!
It’s not their Grand Vin, though. So, it can’t be called a Second Growth. AND, critically, it’s also not quite a traditional second wine…
Translation – Second Growth quality (some would say Super Second!) without the pricetag!
“Invariably a favorite among Bordeaux purists, the present writer included, Las Cases’s style is rigorous and uncompromising,” raves Wine Advocate in a vintage retrospective of the property. For comparison, the 2000 Las Cases would set you back six Benjamins… that’s right. $600!
Same team from vineyard to bottle, same uncompromising and rigorous quality.
And we haven’t even told you the best part!
Today marks the very first 2000 vintage Bordeaux ever offered on Wine Spies. And not just one, but two, with the 2000 Clos L’Eglise Pomerol available in our App! As a reminder, per Wine Advocate “it’s the greatest vintage Bordeaux has ever produced. Remarkably consistent from top to bottom, there has never before been a year where so many exceptional wines were produced.”
Today’s deals are insane!
Remember – there isn’t much… and the clock is ticking…
94 Points – Wine Spectator “The nose shows loads of plum, spice and meat aromas, as well as hints of licorice. It’s full-bodied, with firm, yet velvety textured tannins. It’s big and rounded. If you can’t afford Las Cases, try some of this. Some might call this a second wine, but it comes from a (separate) plot of vineyards… So it’s like its own estate. Best after 2009.”
