Mission Codename More or less
Mic drop: CAYMUS LITERS!
One of the most profound, distinct, and recognizable products of fermentation and civilization since sliced cheese. When too much of a good thing is a good thing, especially when you GET MORE WINE FOR LESS!
Come again?! Relax, math fiends, it checks, and makes perfect sense, onto the wine…
Fascinatingly, just last Friday we ended up with samples of both this and the 750 version, popped them side by side, and they taste slightly DIFFERENT. Most of us preferred the BIG BOY. So here they are!
Quite possibly the most recognized Cabernet from Napa since the 1970s needs no introduction. Love it or leave it, you ought to acknowledge that it is one of the most popular wines in the world.
One sip and you know why. With prime fruit sources up and down the greater Napa Valley and decades-long contracts, it’s child’s play for the Wagner Family to blend the best of the best Napa Cab year in and year out. And when a vintage like 2023 comes around, the results are obvious. There’s insane BUZZ around 2023s, and you can see and taste for yourselves now what The Wine Independent means: “As the fruit began rolling in across the valley, there were whispers of a ‘once in a lifetime’ vintage. Having tasted hundreds of 2023 barrel samples by now and comparing these to all Napa vintages I’ve tasted going back through the 1960s, they might just be right.”
Believe the hype, this is one of their best ever, with berries black to blue, crème de cassis, figs, cigar box, lush, and silky; it’s the epitome of the famous Caymus style. Explosive, opulent, and a Cabernet that you just can’t get enough of. Hear that, Napa? Caymus delivers the goods again.
We’re stupefied by how astonishing a deal this is. A recent Vinepair article claims that… “Arguably the United States’ best-known fine wine, Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon embodies what many consumers think of as the definitive Napa Cab, fruit-forward, rich, velvety, and round. It’s among the year’s most consumed wines, and consistently ranks as an undisputed No. 1 in popularity. There are no scores for this vintage yet, but it’s Caymus, who needs them, hello?
This feels like we skipped Halloween and Thanksgiving, rolling right into Christmas this year!
