Mission Codename Crimson Aria
A few months ago, we rolled out the Madrigal Petit Verdot and were SHOCKED at the response. A steady stream of orders drained it to 0 over the course of the day.
Maybe we should have been better prepared.
We have always known this is great stuff. Spend any time in Calistoga, and you’ll soon learn that Chris Madrigal and his vineyard are local legends. Their so well regarded that in July of 2024, none other than Jayson Woodbridge of Hundred Acre fame bought the winery and vineyard from Chris for his latest project, Fortunate Son! They have seriously revamped the vineyard since, but it speaks volumes about the terroir itself!
As reported in the San Francisco Chronicle, Woodbridge explained, “this type of opportunity only comes along for vineyards of this quality, perhaps every 50 years.” High praise, from one of the best in Napa!
Though they sold their winery and vineyard, Madrigal is still a fixture in the community. This wine, guided by the expert hand of Chris Madrigal, is the very definition of a crowd pleaser. And one that’ll satisfy even the most scrupulous of Napa wine collecting cognoscenti.
An impeccably made red from one of Napa Valley’s best vintages in recent memory always makes us sit up and take notice. But this Madrigal estate blend blew us away! The 2021 Tres Tesoro Estate Red, a delectable blend led by Tempranillo, and Petite Sirah (the variety that put Madrigal on the map), shows what prime Napa real estate is truly capable of in a stellar vintage.
Incredibly rich, concentrated black plummy fruit action here. Tannins that glide over the tongue like a feather. Acidity that adds just enough spark to dazzle the palate. A cornucopia of dried herbs and wood spices (do people still say “cornucopia”? If not, we’re bringing it back!). It’s classic Napa Valley, it’s all here, and the potential of Madrigal’s estate plots is on full, dazzling display.

The Madrigal family has lived and thrived as a vital part of the community in Calistoga since they moved there in the 1930’s. By the ninety’s they were working for Duckhorn, managing the Alluvial Vineyard off Bale Lane, near Larkmead and Frank Family. In 1994 they purchased the vineyard from Dan Duckhorn and started their own label. Many have been coveting the land ever since…
With the winery and vineyard now in the hands of Woodbridge and Fortunate Son, we can’t say for sure if Madrigal will continue to make this deliciousness. THIS OFFER is your chance to get your hands on it, with a whopping 65% discount!
