We can barely hold our excitement for this next offer!!!

We sometimes get to premier new vintages of wines from classic producers. But never before have we been first-to-market with a brand-new-wine from such a storied icon!

Not to mention, at the BEST PRICE ANYWHERE at 55% OFF!!!

Allow us to explain – 2019 is the first vintage Giacomo Borgogno has bottled a wine from the famed Annunziata vineyard in the village of La Morra. Newly released, it’s literally just off the boat, available now, for the first time.

Hedonistically aromatic, popping the cork reveals an intricate symphony of red fruits bound with notes of smoke, aromatic wood, rose petals, and so much more! All bound by satiny tannins and a vibrancy that shows as nervy and energetic now, but will see the wine improve for decades.

The house of Borgogno has helped define Barolo since 1761. Yup, it was founded the year George Washington turned 29 years old, fourteen years before the Revolutionary war. A hundred years later, in 1861, it was bottles of Borgogno Barolo that celebrated sealing the pact unifying modern Italy. They were one of the early pioneers in holding back Brarolo Riservas like this one. In 2008 the descendants of the Borgogno family sold a majority stake to Oscar Farinetti – the owner of Eataly (shortly after opening his first location). A native son of Piemonte, Farinetti vowed to continue the legacy and tradition of Borgogno, giving the house a much-needed influx of capital to overhaul the old winery and expand their vineyard holdings.

It was the Farinettis that acquired 2.5 Ha of land in the esteemed Annunziata vineyard. Characterized by its amphitheater shape, it is sun-drenched, mostly southeast-facing slopes, with a mix of sandy and calcareous marl soils ideal for Nebbiolo. These elements combine to produce elegant and aromatic Barolo wines with fine, silky tannins, known for a striking floral perfume, particularly notes of rose and violet, along with hints of licorice, spices, and dark fruit. Wines from here are less austere and more approachable than other crus in their youth, though they still have aging potential.

And their timing couldn’t have been better. “Barolo bounces back with a stellar vintage in 2019 that could very well represent the beginning of a new cycle of strong, outstanding years for this historic appellation. The 2019s are potent, tightly wound wines that will thrill readers who appreciate the nuance, subtlety and structure of Nebbiolo.” raves Vinous in their recap of the vintage. Wine Spectator agreed, calling it, “Exemplary,” going on to summarize, “The 2019s are certainly the best young Barolos I’ve tasted since the 2016s, and if you are a fan of the wines, it’s wise to buy your favorites early.”

Now is your chance to acquire this amazing new release – and have bragging rights over your fellow collectors. But we were only able to secure a very limited quantity - so grab yours now!

98 Points – Decanter “The most impressive of three excellent single-vineyard Borgogno wines being released solely through négociants on the Place. From the Annunziata MGA, this offers a nose full of fennel seeds, cherries and plums, lavender, white chocolate and almost Turkish Delight reflections. Smells amazing. Sappy and alive, but wow the texture and depth are off the charts, immediately filling and round, this comes in waves with bright, zingy fresh fruit, high acidity, juicy tannins with herbal edges and soft spices towards the finish. Complex, amazingly vibrant and so captivating. Coffee, toasted honey, sour cherries, gingerbread and rosemary. An incredible wine that is still compact and relatively tight, the tannins are at the fore presenting quite a firm structure, but this also has delicacy and elegance shining through. I could drink this all day long. Just 3,000 bottles being released from the estate bought in 2008 by Andrea Farinetti and the Farinetti family, who are also behind the Eataly empire. Drink 2028 – 2042”

98 Points – The Drinks Business “(Barolo Riserva; 100% Nebbiolo; the first Riserva release from Borgogno to be sourced from 0.9 hectares of the 2.5 hectares recently acquired in the prestigious Annuziata MGA in La Morra; 14% alcohol). Incredibly complex aromatically and utterly beguiling. At first we have classic leather and cherry stone, then the dry herbal and more floral notes appear – rose petals, lavender and wild rosemary. There’s sandalwood and clove too. Ample and searingly fresh on the attack, this is massively framed but very open in texture with a great sense of layering and of fresh sapidity welling up from below like ocean up-currents sourced from the depths. Very tactile and with great tension and precision. Yet seriously succulent and juicy. The wine-making here is exceptional and it’s wonderful to see what it brings to this fantastic terroir for the first time.”
