Today’s wine is a Premium Cabernet Sauvignon that our tasting panel absolutely loved. An age-worthy wine at a very special price, we recommend that you pick up an entire case. Enjoy some right away, but be sure to lay a few bottles down for the next several years. This wine will continue to evolve and improve even further.
A little shy, at first, we swirled our sample glasses to life. Once the wine has had a chance to breathe, it really opens up, revealing loads of rich, dark fruit, soft spice, minerals and earthy loam.
Tom Meadowcroft is on our radar now and we eagerly anticipate his coming offerings. You can bet that we’ll feature more of his excellent wines in the near future.
Pair this classic, dark Cabernet with grilled lamb with mint sauce or a grilled eggplant with pearl onions.
Color is a very pretty dark crimson with glinting garnet edges. The wine settles very quickly after swirling. Tall, widely-spaced legs fall very slowly down the glass wall after swirling.
Dark and rich, with layers of fruit and earth. Blackberry, black cherry, dried plum, with sassafras, tanned leather, fresh earth, dried dark flower petals and soft spice.
Dark black skin plum, dried strawberry, dried dusty rose petals, wet river rock, dark chocolate and dried wild mushroom.
Very long and loaded with dark fruit. Tannins and acidity are very well integrated, giving the wine a plush and elegant overall feel.
What the Winery Says
Only the fourth vintage from winemaker Tom Meadowcroft’s vineyard on Mt. Veeder, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon stands shoulder to shoulder with the three previous award-winning releases. The vineyard, 1200 feet above the Napa Valley floor, was replanted in 2000 and yields six to seven tons of ultra premium grapes each year. The wine was aged in medium plus toast French oak barrels from Alain Fouquet. The 2008 Cab received a 91 point rating in the June, 2012 issue of Wine Enthusiast.
This bold yet balanced Cabernet delights the nose and the palate with aromatics and flavors of blackberry, black cherry and black currant. A hint of the mountain forest also combines with both the aromatics and the flavors.
Like most Cabernet’s, this vintage pairs exceptionally well with grilled meats such as steaks and chops as well as anything chocolate.

Winemaker Tom Meadowcroft
My passion for wines comes from my experiences growing up, working and traveling in Europe and the United States. Early in life, I started my journey in winemaking by working the harvest of 1979 in Bordeaux. Later in life, I worked at wineries in Washington and Napa, attended UC Davis and Napa College, and then became a vineyard manager focused on sustainable farming and environmental advocacy. Managing dozens of properties for the top wineries in Napa and Sonoma taught me the principles of winegrowing and gave me a vision for the kinds of wines that I make today.
