An Extraordinary Appy Hour Special…

“One of the best wines produced in Italy in 2014.” – Raffaele Vecchione

Here’s the ultimate cellar centerpiece - farmed, harvested, and hand-bottled by the master himself.

And to call a red label Rocche Riserva Barolo in 3-LITER rare is quite the understatement. Single bottles of this can be had for around $900, so the price we’re letting a few of these go at today is an investment like no other. These will appreciate indefinitely and exponentially, without a doubt.

What Robert Parker famously said, “Perhaps the greatest compliment I could confer on Bruno Giacosa is that there are no wines in the world I buy without tasting them first, except for those of his.”

Giacosa is without a doubt one of the most important winemakers in the modern history of Piemonte. “His contributions to Italian wine and his beloved Piedmont are beyond measure,” as Robert Parker attests. Wine Spectator adds, “Bruno Giacosa, one of the greatest winemakers of Italy’s Piedmont region… he could never be labeled a traditionalist or modernist. He was simply Bruno Giacosa, the Maestro, making ethereal wines vintage after vintage that were highly sought around the world.”

Beginning his six-decade-long career in a region that traditionally blended fruit from different sites, the Wine Advocate emphasized how, “Bruno Giacosa was among the first visionaries to understand the importance of the Langhe cru, and the unique expressions that are obtained with a single-vineyard winemaking philosophy.”

Buy now… appreciate the rarity of an opportunity like this later.

98 Points – Raffaele Vecchione “Mature in its vast sensory complexity, it delivers power and character with notes of strawberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, licorice, and wild myrtle. The energy and sensory precision of the harmonious background of marjoram, eucalyptus, and peppermint are intense. The cool vintage is perceptible, but the sensory richness and fullness make it incredible. Medium-full bodied, with firm and vibrant tannins, currently contracted, and a subtle and lean finish that concentrates towards a significant length and a beauty of untamed vision. 32 months of aging in large barrels and two and a half years in the bottle before release. One of the best wines produced in Italy in 2014. Best from 2022.”

98 Points – James Suckling “The aromas are so seductive with dried roses and berries. Tar and asphalt, too. Full bodied, very tight and powerful. Lean and long tannins. It goes on for so long. Stops and then starts over again. A curious and challenging young wine. Great.”

97 Points – Wine Advocate “This red label Riserva was made in 2012 and 2014 and will be released in 2016 and 2017. Bruna Giacosa and her team skipped over 2013 and 2015. However, the current release is the 2014 Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche, and well, there’s a lot to take in. Simply put, this is a beautiful wine that unfolds slowly with amazing intensity and complexity, delivering delicate notes of violets and candied orange peel that cede softly to darker tones of licorice, dried blackberry and savory spice. Give the wine the time it needs to open in the glass. This vintage flaunts its most elegant side, with fine tannins and soft fruity fiber that remains everlasting and pure. This estate is known for taking its biggest chances in the so-called off vintages. Betting on 2014 has turned out to be a brilliantly contemplated move. Drink 2023-2050.”

96 Points – Wine Spectator “This is lean, taut and expressive, with rose, cherry, white pepper and mint flavors allied to the steely structure. Leaves a chalky impression on the long finish. Best from 2022 through 2042. 95 cases imported.”
