Fortress of Greatness
Truly a fantastic wine, this stunning wine took our tasting panel by storm.
A bold, concentrated and elegant wine, today’s 2007 Super Sonoman Meritage comes very highly recommended. Especially at today’s 50% off price.
The 2007 vintage was the first in a decade to earn such a high score. In fact, it was Robert Parker that gave the vintage a whopping 96 points for such greatness.
Today’s wine is a lovely and balanced blend, with each varietal playing together in harmony. The Cabernet Franc and the Malbec provide great structure, while the Cabernet Sauvignon provides deep flavor and elegance.
Pair this very flexible wine with anything from lamb burgers, rosemary lamb, turkey lasagna, pot roast, spaghetti bolognese or a pepper-crusted grilled t-bone steak.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Deep crimson with a brilliant maroon hue at the core, fading to fine, pink translucent edges. Weighty when swirled, this wine is fast-settling. After it settles, tall, thing legs run slowly down the glass wall. |

Smell: | Led by an initial, heady rush of blackberry, brown spice, black olive, nutmeg, and subtle clove. Once decanted a dark fruit medley greets your senses, accompanied by black cherry, red plum and baked apples. |
Taste: | This Meritage is juicy, quickly drying and smooth. Primary flavors showcase unsweetened dried cranberry and black cherry. As the wine begins to breathe, secondary flavors of black olive, earl grey tea and bing cherry emerge. |
Finish: | Pleasant dark fruit and fine integrated tannins make for a very long, soft and flavorful finish. |
