Mission Codename Hello, "Gorgeous!"
“This long-awaited new prestige cuvée, Hemera, is a perfectionist creation.” – Decanter
Krug just released their 2013 vintage, which makes these bubbles that much more meaningful.
Not to mention the conservative triple 96-point raves and a lavish 30% off the retail price.
A bottle of vintage Krug will set you back at least DOUBLE what you’re paying today for this comparable wine. Henriot’s cellar master Alice Tétienne was at Krug from 2015 through 2020. Enough said?
If I were you, I’d grab at least a couple while it’s here, then read on… Per Decanter, “Champagne Henriot is a gemstone with an extremely articulate and passionate chef de caves in Alice Tétienne, born and bred in Champagne… At the top of the Henriot tree is Cuvée Hemera, known previously as Cuvée des Enchanteleurs and before that as Cuvée Baccarat, so it is a concept with a distinguished pedigree. Cuvée Hemera is always made up of the six Grands Crus that have played the most important part in the house’s history… Tétienne is pithy in her description of this make up: ‘Verzy provides the foundations, Verzenay offers elegance, Mailly reinforces expression, Chouilly gives generosity, Avize reveals tension and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger delivers brilliance.’”
Forbes called it “Vintage Champagne That Reads Like A Screenplay:” as “there isn’t much middle ground when it comes to Cuvée Hemera… It’s here to make a statement. The composition of the wine reads like a straight-from-central-casting portrayal of what we imagine a historic Champagne house’s lineage to be. If a vintage Champagne could ‘read’ like the screenplay of a Hollywood film, this would be it… aged for 12 years in Henriot’s dark and silent cellars before, now, being brought into the light of the market.”
Luxury in a glass: Decadent while focused, opulent while seamless, piercing while pure. A wow wine.
An amazing deal but just a few cases…
96 Points – The Wine Palate “The Cuvée Hemera 2013 is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir coming from 6 Grand Cru sites. It spends at least 10 years on lees with a dosage of 3.5 g/L. It prances out with showy notes of juicy peaches, poached pears, and apple butter, opening out to nuances of honey toast, allspice, and marzipan with a touch of crushed rocks. The palate has a wonderful honey-toast character with nutty accents and a very crisp backbone, finishing long and savory. Gorgeous! Drink 2025-2038.”
96 Points – James Suckling “This mature wine is finely structured with a delicate mousse and forward toast and brioche flavors. At the same time, the texture and the white fruits are still there, creating a magnificent Champagne with texture and richness in a taut, tight package.”
96 Points – IWSC “A pure and ever so slightly reductive nose, that’s displays mineral notes, a little smoke, cigar leaves and hints of spice. The palate flows nicely, with linear acidity and a light, precise, fruit profile. Vibrant elegance and an acute, long and classy finish.”
