2009 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir
California: Santa Barbara County: Santa Maria Valley
Today’s special Pinot Noir delivers the wonder and complexity of the region. The wine leads with delicate aromas that come to life with some swirling and delicious flavors that begin austere and subtle - but then, intriguingly, increase on the palate as the wine breathes.
Smooth as silk, all across the palate, today’s 2009 Carlson Santa Maria Pinot Noir is a charming wine that any fan of elegant Pinot Noir will enjoy.
Winemaker, Chuck Carlson’s career has spanned more than a quarter century. In that time, he has grown to deeply understand his three Pinot producing regions of Santa Rita Hills, Santa Maria Valley and Arroyo Grande Valley, in a way that no other winemaker could. The culmination of his experience lives in today’s bottle. We hope that you have the pleasure of sampling this wonderful wine.
Brilliant, bright, clear ruby red with a slightly darker heart.
Lush and layered with fragrant raspberry, dark cherry, stewed plum, strawberry components that sit atop deep forest floor, fresh cedar bark, subtle tobacco leaf, violet and red currant.
Black currant, underripe blackberry, cranberry and young strawberry give way to dried tobacco leaf, white jasmine tea.
Bright but supple, this wine leads with soft leather and red fruit that slowly gives way to slightly more earthen dried iris and dark rose.
This wine begs to be served with a wild mushroom and parmesan risotto.
