Mission Codename G-Spot
Question - What has more swagger than Burt Reynolds in gator skin boots?
Answer - This Guarachi Cabernet blend!
Hard to believe, isn’t it? But it’s ALL THAT and then some.
That’s right! Guarachi is back in a BIG WAY today!
OH! This one is a STEAL!!! We brought this 97-point palate thumping Cab blend from $90 down to… $35!.
If you don’t know them, this hedonistic dive into the deep end comes from Guarachi Family Wines, a venture started by Alex Guarachi who came from Chile many years ago. After building a successful wine importing business in the US, he turned his attention toward making fine wines under his own boutique label in 2007. Since then, he’s acquired prestigious vineyards, like the Meadowrock Estate on Atlas Peak, where the fruit for this wine comes from. Originally partnering with Paul Hobbs, in 2016 the winemaker passed the torch to his former assistant (note: for all Hobbs’ consulting work), Julian Gonzalez
Gonzalez has more than proven himself, and this masterful value is proof of his talents.
A base of 88% Cabernet means this could be legally called Cabernet! It shows its Atlas Peak origin in its full body, tightly packed tannins, and rich, muscular frame. But it’s made as a showcase for the ripeness Meadowrock Vineyard can obtain, with highly expressive black cherry and blackberry fruit colliding dramatically on stage with dark chocolate, coffee bean, and sweet spice complexity. Super long, it’s beautiful now, but build to improve for up to a decade.
Pro-tip: Pair with a juicy cheeseburger, with oozing Gouda or Swiss, sauteed mushrooms & onions.
Grab them before their gone. As with their other wines today, we have PRECIOUS LITTLE to spare direct from the winery library, and the very last of it…
95 Points – Wine Enthusiast “A great structure for aging and concentrated, complex flavors make a fantastic combination in this deep, dark and delicious wine from the mountain-top Meadowrock Vineyard. The saturated blackberry, blueberry and mocha flavors are tempting to drink now, but will become more complex with time. Best from 2026–2036.”
94 Points – Decanter “This single vineyard wine comes from the Guarachi estate on Atlas Peak. Cabernet grapes are rooted in red volcanic soils. Aged 22 months in 100% new French oak. These Guarachi wines are not shy on power, particularly with their use of entirely new French oak. This ‘G by Alex Guarachi’ bottling offers up a bit more elegance and flair courtesy of those red volcanic soils. There’s a bit more freshness and fineness to the tannins. Pop corks after 2025.”
