This special bottling was originally destined for a luxury brand that we cannot name. The stack of NDA papers assures us that we’ll get our butts handed to us. But all you need to know is sometimes things don’t work as planned, and that deal fell through.

For those who don’t know, Layer Cake is a project by one of the best winemakers around - Jayson Woodbridge. He’s better known for his 100-point smash hits with Hundred Acre (which run $500+ per bottle if you can get them). But with Layer Cake he wanted to make wines for the common man and woman, and they represent some of the best quality for for the price.

So about this wine. Hope you like ripe strawberries, juicy watermelon, grapefruit, rose petals, and those bags of pop rocks candy! Because this has all that going on and more. A flood of ripe red fruits, backed with some zippy acidity and fine mousse bubbles. It’s piquant, friendly, happy-making juice perfect for sipping in the hot tub, by the pool, while imagining being by the pool, apres-ski, or any day that ends in “y”.
