Mission Codename Full Throttle!
“…but be forewarned, these are not for the anti-flavor folks, as they are pedal-to-the-metal, full-throttle and super-intense, but have great balance and integrity of fruit.” – Wine Advocate
Looking for lean, light, ephemeral Pinot Noir? Hit the back button, NOW. You’ve been warned.
That’s NOT how Russell Bevan rolls!
His wines, like Bevan himself, are “bigger-than-life”!
And the prices of his wines often match that sentiment. But not today. At 50% OFF this takes a detour from the usual triple digit price and drops it to a more reasonable $50.
If you’ve had his Adversity Cabs, you know the quality is off the meter. But this is our FIRST Bevan Cellars offering. Cut straight from the man, the myth, the LEGEND’s eponymous label!!! And we know you are going to LOVE IT.
As the ‘Emperor of Wine’ himself said in Wine Advocate, his wines are pedal-to-the-metal. With 40 x 100-pointers, Bevan is renowned for his skills crafting some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon. But Paker calls out that, “As I said in my previous comments on Bevan’s Napa Valley wines, he is at the top of his game, especially with his Cabernet Sauvignons, but what is so remarkable about him is that he actually hits high ground with his Pinot Noirs as well.”
This bottling doesn’t have any reviews, but when you’ve achieved perfection forty times, do you need one?! Parker himself frequently compared Bevan’s Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir to a “sumptuous Côtes de Nuit grand cru look-alike,” and “Vosne-Romanée”! And trust your besotted Burgundy loving Agents - it’s as true as ever here!
The most recent review for the previous vintage comes from The Wine Independent, praising that, “The full-bodied palate is chock full of expressive red and black fruits, supported by satiny tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing on an earthy note.”
We found the wine to be utterly GORGEOUS! It’s not just the aromatic complexity of blackberry and cherry liquor, sweet spice, kola, rose petals that carry straight to the palate. It’s the texture. Somewhere between satin and velvet, weighty but lithe and flowing, lingering long and pleasantly on the palate. It’s hedonistic but refined, sensual but suave. In a word – well, three words – it’s classy AF.
Seriously, we have been a fan for years, and years, and years. And while the wine could age for up to a decade, if you’re like us, there is no way to resist opening it.
With just over ten cases remaining, this won’t last much longer. Make your move!
