Mission Codename MSM410
Wine Spectator is right: “Given Miner’s winemaking history in Napa Valley, the excellence of his wines should come as no surprise.” Seeing this $180 production centerpiece at $59 is a shocker. 15 years in a cave. Stagecoach fruit…mmmm just sayin’ ELEGANT!!
The Oracle reminds us of some of the greatest hits ever. The cool year Napa flagships that age like a dream and drinks like the elegance from yesteryear. Think SPOTTSWOODE, HARLAN, the ALMIGHTY CORISON, HEITZ..MARTHA’S VINEYARD…Elegant Legends! One of those flagships with INSANE pricing that put our server load to the test. Mind you, the library direct price sooo over delivers what you get here. Our price is pure scandal.
100% STAGECOACH VINEYARD. Yep, that infamous site sandwiched between Pritchard Hill and Atlas Peak. The one where many a $250+ cult Cab was born. Just look to Alpha Omega, Pott, The Debate, Paul Hobbs, Mark Herold… the list goes on.
The 2010 Oracle is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon leading the blend, with 20% Cabernet Franc, 14% Merlot, 3% Malbec, and 3% Petit Verdot rounding it out. Five varieties. One fine-tuned expression showcasing the best of this rugged mountain source. Vinified at the Oakville home base, 21 months in barrel, 55% new French oak. Reliable winemaking, from a family-owned winery, cellared perfectly in their impeccable caves for 15 years.
Now released into the wild, heading to your doorstep for the remainder of its (long) life.
While the press almost completely skipped this beauty back in the day (2010 became a SLEEPER Vintage of pure excellence years later). The producers behind Stagecoach fruit knew that 2010 was a year meant for cellaring. Alpha Omega, Paul Hobbs, Pahlmeyer, Chappellet, Caymus. All of them paying $250+ for their Stagecoach bottles. All of them sourcing from the same hillside that went into this glass.
Deep garnet with a mature, brick-touched rim that tells you exactly how long this has been waiting. DRINK ME!! I’M SO PRETTY!! The nose opens composed and serious. Dried violet, cedar, dark plum, a wisp of tobacco and crushed rock. Fifteen years in bottle have done their quiet work. The palate is structured but not aggressive. Dark cherry, blackcurrant, dried herbs, a streak of graphite running through the midpalate. The tannins have softened into something velvety and integrated, the oak fully absorbed. The finish is elegant. Decant it. Give it an hour. Then don’t share it with anyone you don’t trust completely. 🍷
2,207 cases made. Originally released in Fall 2014. Some of those bottles have been quietly disappearing into private cellars ever since, the rest tucked away in their caves for a Library release. A few found their way to us. Not many. The ones that did aren’t staying long.
$180 SRP. $59 here. That’s 67% OFF a 15-year Stagecoach library wine. The math is not mathing in your favor if you skip this one. 🤯
