And the feeling must be mutual. How else does a winery-direct deal like this land at HQ?

So what’s the catch?

There isn’t one. Just a family winery with one of the biggest caves in the valley and a habit of holding wines back longer than most.

Miner is a fixture on the Silverado Trail. They own just half an acre of Cabernet, planted out front.

The rest comes from growers they’ve worked with for decades, up and down the valley. Year over year, they make some damn fine wines across the portfolio.

Who made this one? Gary Brookman. He ran Miner’s cellar from 1997 until he retired in 2022.

He also took over Grace Family Vineyards from Heidi Barrett, 2001 through 2014. Between that and his own Brookman label, Gary is one of the quiet forces behind some of Napa’s top wines. Odds are you’ve drunk his work without knowing it.

Seven years on, it shows. Serious complexity and a sturdy structure. Red currant, black plum, cedar and mesquite spice.

There’s still a good core of fresh fruit, with layers of well integrated oak, barrel spice, and savory notes at play.

It sat in Miner’s caves the whole time. Now it’s out, heading to your doorstep with plenty of life ahead.
