“This pedal-to-the-metal beauty is the ultimate indulgence for the hedonists!” – Wine Advocate

You’ve got to be quick with this one.

With two NEARLY PERFECT 99 POINT scores, and a slew or positive press aside, this LIBRARY VINAGE beauty is coming in HOT!

They say wine is no longer one of the best investment tools; obviously, there are exceptions to that. If it comes from one of Right Bank’s top rising stars, a library vintage from a crown jewel of Saint-Émilion, you can make a pretty safe bet it won’t go down in value.

As Forbes explains, “Troplong Mondot has been known as a decadent Saint-Émilion wine that never seemed too heavy and it delighted many a Bordeaux wine drinker for that reason.”

2015 for this property bridges the gap between the end an era and the beginning of a new one. Christine Valette, owner and manager of the property since 1980, passed away in spring of 2014. Carrying her leadership forward, Xavier Pariente, involved with the estate since 2002, oversaw the vintages until the Chateau’s sale in 2017. While the later vintages are justifiably celebrated for a return to balance, Jean-Philippe Fort, a twenty-year plus veteran of Michel Rolland’s lab captured the BALLS-TO-THE-WALL zeitgeist of the vintage perfectly.

“2015 St. Emilion has it all going on. Frankly, I could sum this article up rather quickly by just saying, ‘2015 Saint Emilion Rocks!’” exclaims The Wine Cellar Insider. They go on to call out that, “Stylistically, at their best, 2015 St. Emilion wines are flamboyant, sensuous, richly textured, sexy wines with purity, energy, complexity, great character and the ability to age and evolve into special, tasting experiences.”

Their initial impressions on the release of this wine speak volumes! “Liquid silk does not begin to describe the texture, but it’s close. If that does not work, molten velvet is my next stab at describing this wine. Powerfully concentrated with density and opulent textures that really bring this to a new level. For my delicate friends across the pond, do not let this scare you off. Everything is in balance. But be prepared for a grand carnival of true self-indulgence.”

This is a brilliant effort that is just starting to come into its own. Easily showing another 15-20 years of life in the glass, this sexy Saint-Émilion belongs in the cellar of any serious collector.

But grab it fast. It won’t last.

99 Points – Jeb Dunuck “There are big changes in store for Troplong Mondot, which was sold in 2017 by Xavier Pariente to the large Insurance firm, SCOR… I had a terrific visit with Xavier for this report, which was on his last day at the estate, and he was reflective and introspective about the sale, as well as tight-lipped about any future plans. Nevertheless, this is a gorgeous property, lying at heart of Saint-Emilion at the highest point of the plateau, and they’ve produced some of the wines of the vintage in both 2015 and 2016. A wine I was able to taste on multiple occasions, the 2015 Troplong Mondot is a tour de force that readers need to snatch up. This cuvee comes from the cool, clay and limestone soils on the upper plateau (it’s the highest point in the appellation) and is a blend of 92% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, harvest between September 30th and October 21st, that was brought up in 85% new French oak. Sporting a deep, inky color as well as a sensational bouquet of creme de cassis, blackberry, toasted spice, licorice and spring flowers, it’s another huge wine from this estate that has perfect balance between its fruit, oak and tannin, a stacked mid-palate, and an incredible finish. I wrote ‘crazy good’ more than once in my notes. It has enough fruit and texture to drink nicely even today, yet needs 4-5 years of cellaring and will keep for two to three decades. It’s one of the great wines of the vintage. Drink 2022-2052.”

Rich and sumptuous to the core, it is a classic wine from this property, built on serious fruit density and textural richness. Dark red cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather and spice are some of the many notes that build as the 2015 shows off its irrepressible personality.
