Mission Codename Muy bien, gracias!

“A highly desired source for premium cool-climate grapes.” – Food & Wine

Sangiacomo AND Sojourn on the same label? Cram those lockers!

And not just this Pinot Noir, but also the Chardonnay counterpart is here today too, while they last, with the affirmation of 96 and 95 points from International Wine Report. Still reading?

For those who don’t know Sojourn (it’s okay, we’ve got you), winemaker Erich Bradley got his start at Arrowood and went on to make wine for Hop Kiln as well as Audelssa in Glen Ellen. He credits both Richard Arrowood and David Ramey as his mentors. His right-hand Randy Bennett cut his teeth working with Thomas Brown and Mike Smith in the caves of Nicholson Ranch, where they make Schrader Cellars, Rivers-Marie, Myriad Cellars, Tamber Bey, and (of course) Nicholson Ranch.

The Sojourn Sangiacomo Pinot and Chardonnay share Sangiacomo’s most prized sector, planted in 1998 on the precious foothills of Sonoma Mountain, Roberts Road. The clones are diverse, spanning 115, 777, Swan, and Pommard, giving the wine its layers of berries, red and blue, with a touch of black plums, too. It’s the savory undertone here, though, that makes it oh-so-como, with earthy and savory filling in those fruits, giving the wine endless echoes of complexity on a finish seamless and complete as the last minute of a Beethoven symphony. This wine is begging to be paired with rich fare; wild mushrooms, game, long-simmered stews, smoked meats, you name it.

Carpe diem! And don’t you forget its 95-point Chardonnay counterpart.

96 Points – International Wine Report “All destemmed fruit was used in the 2022 Sangiacomo Vineyard Pinot Noir from Sojourn. Seeing 50% new French oak during aging, it sports a glistening medium ruby-garnet core with a bluish rim in the glass. A touch more meaty and earthy than its siblings - think notes of crushed pink peppercorn and a touch of peppered charcuterie. Bold blue and red fruited notes meld with violet flowers and black tea notes that sit on the mid-palate. Highly recommended and Editor’s Choice. Drink 2024-2034.”

94 Points – Owen Bargreen “The Sangiacomo Vineyard is a cool, windswept site located in the Sonoma Coast AVA. This is juicy with its pomegranate seed and guava fruit flavors that mingle well with red cherry, kumquat and stony minerals on the palate. Finishing long with red fruits and copious minerals, this is a beautiful new bottling that will cellar well for another fifteen plus years. Drink 2024-2040.”
