Mission Codename Best Coast

Sojourn Cellars is a Wine Spectator Top 100 winery and home of California’s top-rated Pinot Noir of the year

And this Pinot? It may be their best kept secret.

Not one… not two… but FIVE x 93 POINT SCORES! And today, for UNDER $30!!!

Pop the cork and you’ll see why everyone loves this wine (INCLUDING US!). Open and approachable but complex and layered, the aromas are bursting with Bing cherry, kola, earth, and violets. The palate is satiny and lush, mouth-filling but not too heavy, and super enjoyable. While the finish lasts, the bottle will be empty before you know it!

When we tried it, we knew we had to grab as much as possible. If lush, powerful, gutsy Pinots get your heart racing you NEED to score a few of these.

While Sojourn is celebrated for their Single Vineyard bottlings, this Sonoma Coast appellation Pinot offers more than the sum of its parts – many of the best sites between Annapolis in the North, Occidental on the West Coast, and the Petaluma Gap in the South. The highly celebrated terroir of Gap’s Crown, Sangiacomo, Walala, and Dorothy Cameron Vineyards create the backbone of this luscious blend. Clones 115, 828, 667, Pommard, and Swan add unique elements to create a complex Pinot Noir with a myriad of textures and flavors.

Sojourn co-founder and Director of Winemaking Erich Bradley has quietly been gathering a reputation for brilliance with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. He got his start at Arrowood and went on to make wine for Hop Kiln as well as Audelssa in Glen Ellen and Ojai Mountain Estate. He credits both Richard Arrowood and David Ramey as his mentors. We don’t have to tell you; they are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir LEGENDS! Also, his right hand for the vintage, Randy Bennett, cut his teeth working with Thomas Rivers-Brown and Mike Smith in the caves of Nicholson Ranch where they made Schrader Cellars, Rivers-Marie, Myriad Cellars, Tamber Bey, and (of course) Nicholson Ranch.

93 Points – Jeb Dunnuck “The 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast was raised in 50% new French oak and was entirely destemmed. Pouring a youthful, ripe ruby color, it’s highly aromatic with floral and fruity aromas of sweet cola spice, mixed berries, and preserved flowers. Medium-bodied, it retains good energy and freshness as well as wonderful purity on the palate, with fine tannins and a clean, chalky textured finish. It is a beautiful entry to the range and is going to have a wide window for enjoyment over the next 6-8 years. Drink 2024-2032.”

93 Points – Wine Enthusiast “This is a darker and deeper style of Pinot, with black fruit, mushroom and fresh loam aromas dominating the nose. The palate displays black tea, cedar, clove and cherry-raspberry fruit before evolving into a grippy but balanced finish. Enjoy this alongside grilled lamb with rosemary.”

93 Points – Owen Bargreen “This 2022 Pinot Noir comes form the Sonoma Coast AVA. On the nose this exudes class with menthol and red rose petals alongside cran-ornage notes. The palate is soft and rich with a smooth texture. Bright red fruits parade with salty soils and Mandarin orange rind flavors on the palate. Drink 2024-2034.”

93 Points – Wine Spectator “A solid, juicy version, with a modestly toasty frame surrounding a mix of black cherry and blackberry compote flavors, while light accents of singed apple wood and anise add energy and range on the finish. Drink now through 2031.”

93 Points – International Wine Report “The AVA-focused Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from Sojourn boasts a medium ruby-purple core with a lighter purple rim and saw 50% new French oak during aging. Delightful aromas of blueberries, turned earth, charcuterie, dried rose petals, dried orange peel, and sweet baking spice pop from the glass. Sweet, rounded tannins and leveled acidity help with the earthy and blue-fruited finish. Drink 2024-2032.”
