Woo Hoo Mountain Sauvignon Blanc!! Not something you hear every day?? Cuz high elevation SB is rarely done in Napa. It’s a tasty party!

Normally $70 elsewhere. We have it for $33. Sauvignon Blanc grown at an elevation most Napa vineyards never reach for this varietal. Why does that matter? Cuz you get a playful & flavorful texture party! Perfect as a poolside sipper or sneaking it past the gates at your favorite outside concert series! We also love it with Ceviche, Elote (mexican street corn)🌽, or grilled seafood. But besides its being the highlight of your day, mountain sauvignon blanc isnt very common in Napa.

Most Napa Sauvignon Blanc never leaves the valley floor. Acumen’s sits at 1,300 feet on Atlas Peak, 🏔️ above the fog line, in volcanic gravelly loam that has zero interest in making things easy on the vine. The Result? Real mineral tension, a tighter acid line than anything grown down below, because almost nobody bothers putting this varietal up a mountain.

(For import junkies in the room, if you were ever LUCKY enough to drink or travel to other winemaking regions abroad?? Think Südsteiermark or Vulkanland Steiermark. Austria’s volcanic-soil, high-elevation “Sauvignon” country. Different continent, but oh so delicious!)

Back to Atlas Peak! The fruit for this comes from Attelas Vineyard, a certified organic site turning heads long before Acumen ever made a drop off it. Old timers may remember it as Dr. Krupp’s Home Vineyard, planted 3 years before his famous Stagecoach. Volcanic gravelly loam, northwest exposure, cool mountain nights that kept the acidity crisp even through a summer that can hit triple digits. A touch of French oak in the 9-month aging adds texture without dulling that high-elevation acid.

2024 itself was no slouch either. Napa Valley Grapegrowers call it a “classic, textbook vintage.” heavy winter rains setting the vines up, cool nights locking in the acidity you want in a white like this.

And the artist behind this wine??? Phillip Titus, the same winemaker who spent 35 years building Chappellet into a Napa legend on Pritchard Hill. He also ran his own family’s winery Titus Vineyards. Acumen locked him down full time in 2020, and he’s been delivering knock outs ever since!

Now, we are sure you are curious by now…What does this wine taste like? …No embellishment needed. Our team said a resounding YES!! It was a swallow, not a swish and spit. Just too good for that! Some wines are meant to be enjoyed how the winemaker intended them to be and this one is definitely that! It’s a steal of a deal too and has a few more years of life left on it as well!

Bright citrus and tangerine open things up, lemon and citrus blossom lifting over wet stone and chalky mineral. Honeyed floral notes and a touch of vanilla layer in from the oak. Key lime and Meyer lemon carry the palate alongside ripe orchard fruit, finishing clean, fresh and mineral driven.

If you are planning a gathering with friends or game night and just want to nosh and drink it - it shines with a tomatillo based salsa, marinated olives with citrus peel and herbs, fresh spring rolls with herbs (mint/cilantro)… (we personally like to make these in advance or get lazy and do Door Dash and save them for the week), especially when its too hot to move! Burrata with citrus zest, olive oil and summer tomatoes. (dont forget to salt your tomatoes). As we said at the beginning - it’s the star of the party. ⭐
