Mission Codename Your Jam 🍓

Calling all RIPE Pinot lovers!! This one is big, bold and fully grown up, showing a little bricking in the glass, but still has structure.

Ripe, full-bodied, round and a few years in the bottle? If that’s how you like your Pinot, look no further. At just 60% OFF….just $18, it’s not complicated. It’s a done deal.

THIS wine comes straight from the family’s own vineyard in Carneros, the region famous for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. 2021 was a drought year, which means small berries and BIG concentration.

Roasted strawberry, dried red fruit, baking spice and toasty oak come roaring out of the glass. 🍓 The palate is warm, round and full bodied, and the structure is still standing TALL. If you dig ripe, old school Pinot with some years on it, this is your jam. But…Bright and crunchy Pinot fans, this mission isn’t for you. Everyone else? Pull the cork now. This bottle is ready for your after a long work day wine or set it on a table party wine.🍷

It stands on its own, no food needed. But if you like to nibble, pour it with a big mushroom risotto or your Thanksgiving turkey and all the fixings. Or go cheese plate: aged Gouda, Comté or Gruyère. Their nutty, caramel notes cozy right up to the baking spice and roasted strawberry. 🧀🍷

So how did we get a Carneros Pinot Noir down to the price of a bottom-shelf grocery store Pinot?

Hard times have hit the wine industry, and sadly Robledo is one of the latest names to go into Chapter 11. 💔 And while that’s more a restructuring than a complete erasure of their existence, it still stings, because Robledo isn’t just a winery.

They’re a true family-run “American Dream” winery, with roots in California’s vineyards going back to the 1940s and a pillar of California’s winemaking history. Part of that history is even sitting in the Smithsonian right now.

There are fewer than a handful of Sonoma wineries we’d buy on name alone, and Robledo has always been on that very short list. Not just because the wines are really good, but because of the man and family behind them.

Reynaldo was 16 when he arrived from Michoacán, Mexico, 🇲🇽 in 1968, and the very next day he was working the vines at Christian Brothers in Napa. His father had already worked on American farms as a bracero.

Reynaldo stayed, learned the vineyard inside and out, and became one of wine country’s most respected vine grafters. ✂️ In 1982 he even traveled to Nice to teach his grafting techniques. Yes. In France. 🇫🇷

He bought his first 13 acres in Carneros in 1984. Then he and his family opened the first tasting room founded by former vineyard workers on their own land.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History has a permanent exhibition called FOOD: Transforming the American Table. Its wine section tells the story of how America became a wine nation. 🇺🇸

In that section you’ll find a winery notebook and tools from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. You’ll also find a chair, a budding box, a budding knife and a black cowboy hat from the Robledo family. The hat is Reynaldo’s. 🤠

$45 SRP. $18 here. That’s 60% OFF, and you’d be hard pressed to find a good dinner for that price! Ripe Pinot lovers, this one’s a done deal.
