Mission Briefing

Bella Bianco

What a wonderful start to July! Today’s 2011 Portalupi Bianco is fantastic. This lovely, budget-friendly wine is the perfect white for a summertime soirée. It is food-friendly, bright, complex and delicious.

This blend of 47% Sauvignon Blanc, 46% Chardonnay and 7% Muscat Canelli shows great balance while also delivering enough complexity to make the wine very interesting.

Ideal at somewhere between cooler temperature and room temperature, this approachable wine improves as you spin and sip, allowing it to aerate and to warm slightly.

Highly recommended for any fan of delicious white wines.

Tasting Profile

Lovely and glinting with golden hues that maintain even color from heart to edge.

An intriguing melange of earthy minerality, wet forest floor and bright fruit of pineapple and star fruit with jasmine flower, lime leaf and roasted anise.

Firm peach, young apricot, pineapple, Granny Smith apple, star fruit, lemon verbena and a hint of minerals and asparagus.

Fruits evolve on the palate, moving from sweet to dry with chalky mineral and a lovely blood orange flavor.

Enjoy this very flexible wine with grilled shrimp with ground salt & pepper, or seared salmon on baby spinach.

A marriage of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat Canelli grapes, our unique white wine is all about crisp, clean, floral fruit. The result is a fresh and vibrant wine. We give you “Bianco” a white wine with its own soul.

Fresh, bright and fun, this latest vintage of Bianco once again holds true to our commitment to a clean, crisp, floral and fruit driven experience. This wine has now become a mainstay for forward thinking restaurateurs looking to give their customers an experience that departs from the humdrum of single varietal white wine offerings. As well, the retail buyer now embraces Bianco as a true value driven premium white wine blend. The wine is comprised of 47% Sauvignon Blanc, 46% Chardonnay and 7% Muscat Canelli. Crafted to drink now, the wines acidity allows for ample development well into its third year of release. Jasmine, gardenia and apricot dominate the aromas with hints of peach and lemon on the palate.

About the Winery

Portalupi wine began many years ago in a small northern California town where Tim and Jane first met as children. Now a husband and wife team, they have traversed the gamut of the premium wine business for some nearly 30 years. They started Portalupi in 2002 and deliver exquisitely crafted wines worthy of their generation’s history of Italian winemaking. Portalupi is a celebration of their reunion and a tribute to their rich ancestry.
