Mission Briefing
Over the Moon
Today marks the second time that we will have featured this wine. The 2010 vintage was superb, and sold in record numbers. The 2011 was so good that the importer was cleaned out before we could get our hands on the wine. For today’s 2012 Cantine Lunae Vermentino we infiltrated the importer before they could widely release the wine into the wild.
Our tasting panel was crazy about this wonderful wine. With bright fruit, an easy and elegant feel, and delicate aromatics, this wine is the perfect summertime treat.
Pair with a variety of your favorite foods or enjoy all on its own. This lovely wine is an extremely flexible and super fun summer wine.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Brilliant pale golden hues with edges that glint in the light. |
---|---|
Smell: | Fresh and fruit and floral all at once, with juicy apricot, passion fruit, ripe pineapple, honeysuckle, elderflower and pink rose, with a hint of limestone mineral. |
Taste: | Bright and elegant with flavors of sweet lime, Meyer lemon, mild sweetgrass, ripe pineapple, green mango, lime flower and a very subtle hint of extra virgin olive oil. |
Finish: | Refreshing and fresh with fruit flavors that tail off very gradually. As flavors fade, a very fine dryness slowly spreads from the edges of the palante, inward. |
Pairing: | A fresh pasta primavera or a basted mild fish dish with fresh herbs and lemon would be simply divine. |
