Today’s 2010 A Squared Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexandria Nicole Cellars is a rich and velvety Cabernet that delivers for the money. In fact, it really delivers.
We here at Wine Spies HQ have become very used to the lovely California Cabernets that we sleuth out. In fact, we realize that we’ve also become somewhat jaded. Today’s wine was a delightful reminder that great wines also come from other regions of the country!
This wine is a juicy, flavor-packed, approachable - and very affordable - treat that drinks like a more expensive wine. We offer it to you with our heartiest recommendation.
Dark garnet with rich ruby edges. After a hearty swirl, the wine - and the color - cling to the glass.
Rich and fruit-driven on the nose, with stewed mixed berry fruit, vanilla and subtle licorice that meld with sweet spice, toasty oak and a hint of graphite.
A burst of bold flavor, with kola nut, stewed fruit of dark berry, and plum. As the wine opens up, it reveals sweet spice and subtle dried lavender.
Fruits tail off to lingering savory notes.
Our tasting panel enjoyed this wine with an assortment of strong cheeses. That pairing was divine, but we’ll be enjoying our bottles with a teriyaki burger with a dusting of turmeric.
