Zig then Zag
Today’s 2006 Zig Zag Cabernet Sauvignon is a lovely follow-up to one of our best-selling Chardonnays from the budget-friendly Zig Zaggers.
This delightful treat is an easy-drinking wine with plenty of character for its relatively low price. The wine has a rich and savory nose while delivering rich, concentrated fruits on the palate.
If you are looking for a Cabernet that won’t break the bank - and won’t bore you to tears, like so many inexpensive Cabs do - this wine is sure to please. Decant for best results and be sure to squirrel some away for the fall and winter holidays.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Dark and slightly opaque with dark purple hues at the core. At the edges, dark garnet hues run a chubby ring around the glass. |
---|---|
Smell: | Briar patch and blackberry compote meld with dark tobacco, braised plum, smoky cherry and baking spice. |
Taste: | Dried black currant, pomegranate, dried cranberry, plum skin, grilled nectarine and dark spice. |
Finish: | Dark fruits gradually give way as softly plush tannin spreads a gradual dryness across the entire palate. |
Pairing: | Enjoy this wine with teriyaki spareribs. For dessert, enjoy with grilled peach or grilled nectarine, served with a dollop each of vanilla ice cream and mascarpone. |
