Mission Briefing

Rejoice! Rejoice, dear Operative! Storybook Mountain is back!

Today’s Storybook Mountain Vineyards 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is stunning and elegant wine that is fantastically delicious.

On opening, the wine is slightly understated on the nose. Spin it in the glass and, after just a few turns, it springs to life, unleashing a plethora of dark fruit, spice and earth aromas. On the palate, the wine is incredibly elegant and flavorful. The entire experience is simply transcendental.

This wine is classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a wine to sip and sip. No food needed. While the wine pairs beautifully with food, we suggest that you try it all on its own for an extended period, drawing out the pleasure for as long as possible.

Tasting Profile

Deep, dense, nearly opaque crimson at its core, transitioning to a just-so-slightly lighter red at its edge.

Elegant and reserved on the nose, with just enough to hint at the promise to come on the palate. Leads with dark fruit notes of stewed plum and blackberry, balanced nicely with sweet tobacco, fresh cedar, and a hint of herbal tea.

Bold, rich, and robust on the palate, this is a true Napa Cabernet. Dark, concentrated notes of stewed black plum and black cherry are beautifully balanced with the fresh fruit notes of ripe blackberry. Beyond the initial fruit flavors, there is a wonderful undertone of dark chocolate, sweet spice, and the woodsy hint of a fresh spring forest floor.

Opulent, but in an understatedly elegant manner, with soft, velvety tannins. This wine is aged to perfection.

We would recommend something a bit exotic with this fantastic wine: a wild boar stew of carrots, golden potatoes, and freshly picked mushrooms, spiced with garlic, rosemary, and thyme. If you are not feeling as adventurous, a beef stew would pair just as beautifully.
