2007 Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
California: Napa Valley
The Hidden Gem
Today we have a very special wine for you - at a really great price. Our tasting panel absolutely loved this wine and the winemaker on our tasting panel declared this wine to be drastically under-priced.
Our Operatives have been asking for more 2007 California red wines, and while our diligent Agent Red has been grabbing up as many as possible, these wines are becoming ever more scarce. The Northern California 2007 vintage was the best on record in more than a decade. Robert Parker even awarded this vintage a decade-high 96 points.
Representative of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, today’s offering is a deeply delicious wine that is elegant, very well-balanced and a true delight to imbibe. Swirl, discuss and enjoy all along the way.
Darkest crimson at the heart, with pretty ruby red edges.
Rich and concentrated with chocolate covered dried cherries leading the way. Underneath these, aromas of vanilla bean, boysenberry compote, plum, cassis and sweet tobacco provide a lovely foundation.
Concentrated dark fruit of red plum, black cherry, mountain strawberry, cassis and blackberry. These are followed by supple leather, unsweetened cranberry puree, orange rind, toasted crushed walnut and a hint of tobacco leaf. At the very end, these flavors are punctuated by a subtle but lively white pepper.
Ultra extended with pronounced black fruit that tails off very gradually, leaving behind a very plush and slightly dry feeling that reminds you to take another long sip.
This wine would be incredible with herbed turkey meatballs over your favorite pasta with marinara.
