Mission Briefing

Top of its game

Now this is Merlot!

Today’s 2008 Pellegrini Russian River Merlot is a big, delicious wine with elegance, balance and structure. It is a serious Merlot that will delight lovers of any exceptional Bordeaux varietal wine.

This wine is very well balanced, delivering rich, elegant and long-sustaining fruit all across the palate. It culminates in a well-structured and seemingly endless finish. When flavors finally fade, you’ll find yourself taking another long pull on the wine. That is, of course, until you find that you’ve polished off the bottle. Great thing you got a few!

Enjoy this very food-friendly wine with an infinite variety of meals, including hearty meats, stews, herb roasted poultry, grilled veggie kabobs, seared… Hey, you get the picture. This fantastic wine is flexible!

Tasting Profile

Deep and slightly inky hues of deep garnet, with near perfect diffusion from core to edge.

Wonderfully bold, this wine leads with notes of fresh fig, braised dark plum, and hickory smoked cherry all overlaying subtle hints of sweet tobacco, blueberry, and brown spice.

A true balance of elegance and structure, with little sacrifice of either, this wine features robust flavors of roasted plum, braised black cherry, freshly brewed India black tea, and light notes of sweet tobacco.

A beautifully refined, structured, and long lasting finish with robust dark fruit giving way to velvety, grippy tannins.

We would highly recommend pairing this robust, flavorful wine with fresh bell peppers stuffed with Greek seasoned lamb, wild black rice, and wild mushrooms.
