Mission Codename Evocative
Today’s remarkable 90 point (WS) Pinot Noir hails from the Carneros Estate vineyard of the Robert Stemmler Winery, sister winery to the equally revered Donum Estate. Today’s very highly recommended Pinot Noir drinks like a very expensive French Burgundy. Don’t miss this rare gem!
We are very excited to welcome Robert Stemmler Winery back to our pages, today! Stemmler’s 2011 Estate Grown Pinot Noir is a 90 point (Wine Spectator) beauty that we are offering today with our boldest recommendation.
An uncharacteristically cool year, the 2011 vintage was a challenging one for California winemakers. This may be especially true for Pinot producers. The winemaker on our tasting panel remarked, “if this wine were a French Burgundy, it would be very expensive.” Indeed, today’s wine reminds us finer Burgundies.
This wonderful 100% estate grown Pinot Noir, from the Carneros estate vineyard of Robert Stemmler, is comprised of 42% Donum-Roederer selection, 30% Calera, 18% Dijon and 10% Martini clones.
Enjoy this elegant wine with a fine meal, or all on its own. In fact, we recommend that you enjoy it by itself and also with a wide variety of elegant fare.
