Kobler Estate Winery
2009 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir
California: Sonoma County: Russian River Valley
Mission Briefing
I dream of Burgundy
The wine is very soft on the palate and flavors present evenly all across the mouth. As a Burgundian-style Pinot Noir, this wine is no California fruit-bomb. Rather, it is silky, smooth and almost tender, with a very elegant feel and wonderfully balanced flavors.
Pretty ruby hues present evenly from core to edge giving the wine a very appealing overall look. On the palate, Kobler Winery’s 2009 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is soft and feminine. Flavors present as a balanced hybrid of Russian River meets Burgundy - with a lovely earthiness that harmonizes with rather than distracts from the delicious Russian River fruit.
Enjoy this lovely wine with our fullest recommendation. Kobler’s delectable Pinot Noir is a truly wonderful find that we are certain that you will also love.
Tasting Profile
Look: | A beautiful, rustic garnet at its core, transitioning to a lighter, lovely pink edge. |
---|---|
Smell: | Great depth on the nose, with a delightful and satisfying blend of fruit, earth, and spice. Bright red fruit of strawberry and cherry play off earthy notes of a fresh forest floor and damp fall leaves, trailed by subtle floral and spice notes. |
Taste: | Soft, elegant, and refined, this Pinot is truly Burgundian in style, with the fruit and terroir enjoying equal placement on the palate. Red fruit notes of cherry, raspberry, and red currant seamlessly meld with rich aged leather, smoky tobacco, sassafras, and fruit bramble, trailing with freshly ground cinnamon and clove. |
Finish: | Smooth and silky, with an absolutely wonderful and satisfying finish, this is not your typical California fruit-heavy Zin. |
Pairing: | We recommend pairing this wonderful food wine with a meal of homemade pappardelle, served with a wild boar ragù. |
