Mission Briefing
And justice for all
On opening, this is a structured wine with ample tannin. Decant or swirl for an extended period and be rewarded with a softer and more flavorful wine that expresses more fruit.
With spice, fruit and earth that play together in a beautiful way, this delicious wine earned a fantastic 91 point score from Robert Parker, who is notoriously hard on Spanish Rioja.
Priced just right, this wine delivers terrific value.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Deep scarlet at its core, transitioning elegantly to a nice, lighter red rim. |
---|---|
Smell: | A delightful balance of fruit, earth, and spice, with deep notes of blackberry and plum mingling with berry bramble, freshly fallen leaves, clove, black pepper, and just a hint of cinnamon. |
Taste: | Very reminiscent of the nose, with the continued wonderful interplay of fruit and earth. Concentrated plum and blackberry are laid overtop aged leather, cigar box, sage, rosemary, and clove. |
Finish: | This wine opens up beautifully after decanting, revealing a nice structure and well integrated tannins. |
Pairing: | We would recommend pan-seared lamb chops, served with a black olive tapenade. |
