Domeco de Jarauta
2010 Lar de Sotomayor Vendimia Seleccionada
And justice for all
On opening, this is a structured wine with ample tannin. Decant or swirl for an extended period and be rewarded with a softer and more flavorful wine that expresses more fruit.
With spice, fruit and earth that play together in a beautiful way, this delicious wine earned a fantastic 91 point score from Robert Parker, who is notoriously hard on Spanish Rioja.
Priced just right, this wine delivers terrific value.
Deep scarlet at its core, transitioning elegantly to a nice, lighter red rim.
A delightful balance of fruit, earth, and spice, with deep notes of blackberry and plum mingling with berry bramble, freshly fallen leaves, clove, black pepper, and just a hint of cinnamon.
Very reminiscent of the nose, with the continued wonderful interplay of fruit and earth. Concentrated plum and blackberry are laid overtop aged leather, cigar box, sage, rosemary, and clove.
This wine opens up beautifully after decanting, revealing a nice structure and well integrated tannins.
We would recommend pan-seared lamb chops, served with a black olive tapenade.
