Mission Briefing
Shirazzmatazz!
We were very impressed with today’s beautiful Glaetzer Wines 2012 Bishop Barossa Valley Shiraz. So impressed that Agent Red got his hands on every bottle that he could.
Today’s wine is exceptionally elegant, especially for an Aussie Shiraz. It is elegant, but it also possesses the Shiraz-characteristic oomph and pizzaz that we’ve come to expect from the varietal.
This delicious wine was made by renowned Australian winemaker Ben Glaetzer, whose minimal manipulation philosophy has allowed the fruit and terroir to really shine through. If you love great Shiraz, you will not be disappointed with today’s very highly recommended wine.

Tasting Profile
Look: | Incredibly dark, nearly opaque plum at its heart, with a lighter ruby fringe found just at the very edge of the glass. |
---|---|
Smell: | Bold, yet incredibly well balanced, with notes of braised plum and blackberry laid overtop black peppercorn, aged leather, clove, black tea, and just a hint of smokiness. |
Taste: | Very well rounded, with plenty of flavor and texture. Notes of black currant, dark plum, and black cherry are balanced against sweet tobacco leaf, sandalwood, espresso bean, cocoa powder, and a subtle dark spice. |
Finish: | Soft and approachable, with a wonderfully long and well-structured finish. The dark fruit lingers and lingers, and when it finally fades leaves just a hint of spicy black pepper on the tip of the tongue. |
Pairing: | Rosemary-encrusted roast leg of lamb, served with oven roasted red potatoes. |
