Mission Briefing

Chris' Big Boy

Is there such thing as the terroir of the winemaker?

What can we say about winemaker Chris Doran? Well, in addition to making fantastic wines, Chris is one heck of an incredibly nice guy! Which, we believe, contributes to the quality of his wines.

Today’s J. Doran Vineyards 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a youthful wine that is ready to drink now. It will also continue to improve over the next several years, so please be sure to add a few extra bottles to your cart. At today’s price, this budget-friendly Napa Cab represents a terrific value.

Enjoy this big wine with an equally hearty meal, like a grilled steak or a nice fatty prime rib.

Tasting Profile

Inky, nearly perfectly opaque midnight scarlet at its core, with just a hint of ruby fringe at the edge of the glass.

Complex and aromatic, with reduced dark fruit of sweet plum and blackberry. These dark fruits mingle with roasted fennel, fresh spring garden, coffee bean, a touch of cigar box, allspice, nutmeg, and cracked black peppercorn.

Bold, yet very well rounded, with dark fruit notes of boysenberry, blackberry, and black currant balanced by sweet tobacco leaf, berry bramble, cedarwood, dark chocolate, sage, and a touch of herbal black tea.

Smooth, silky, and absolutely lovely, this wine is well balanced and well structured, with velvety tannins and just a touch of acidity.

A Provencal herb dry rubbed New York Strip, grilled to perfection.
