Mission Briefing

Codename:

All that is funky... and delicious

Today’s 2010 Stepping Stone Napa Valley Syrah comes to us from our old friends at Cornerstone Cellars. Cornerstone is renowned for many of their high-priced Napa Reds, and today’s Syrah is right up with the big boys in quality - but not in price!

Our tasting panel was shocked that today’s delicious wine comes in at under $20. Syrahs this elegant, and this jam packed with flavor, will easily set you back three times that amount. But Agent Red came through and scored a tremendous deal for our Operatives.

Go ahead, today’s wine can be our little budget-friendly secret. Your friends are certain to be shocked when you let them in on it!

Tasting Profile

Look:

Deep, dark, almost midnight red throughout the glass, with a glimmer of ruby at its fringe.

Smell:

Beautifully aromatic, with a lovely dusty earth terroir that shines through. This terroir element is joined by deep notes of blackberry and raspberry, sage, dark baking spices, and a touch of white pepper.

Taste:

Very well balanced, with blackberry, boysenberry, and dark plum layered overtop mushroomy earth, espresso bean, dark chocolate, cranberry, and herbal black tea.

Finish:

After decanting, you’ll be greeted by a lovely finish highlighted by bright acidity and great structure, with reduced dark fruit flavors trailing into notes of dark spice.

Pairing:

Rosemary, maple, and garlic encrusted pork shoulder, roasted to perfection.
