2005 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Petit Verdot
California: Napa Valley
A touch of elegance
Today’s Sempre Vive Petit Verdot is a prime example of master winemaking at its finest - and how a little blending can go a long way. Not thrilled with her single varietal Petit Verdot, winemaker Alison Doran decided to add a touch of fruit from her Old Vine Cabernet. And, boy, did she blend a winner!
Beautifully layered and incredibly rich, today’s wine is the best of both varietals: power packed with flavor, yet with a smooth and supple mouthfeel that keeps you reaching for more. Fans of Sempre Vive Cabernet Sauvignon will find that today’s wine hits many of the same (delicious!) notes.
We heartily recommend you give today’s 97 Pointer a try. At nearly 40% off, there’s no reason to wait!
Deepest, darkest magenta at its heart, with only the faintest bit of red at the very edge.
Inviting aromas of fresh berries and wild strawberry mingle with baker’s chocolate, leather, dark baking spices, caramel, and a touch of minerality.
Layered and beautifully rich, with bold fruit flavors of dark blackberry, boysenberry, and reduced strawberry laid overtop molasses, dark chocolate, clove, anise, dried fig, black peppercorn, and a hint of lavender.
Silken upon entry, with intense - but not in the least overpowering - tannins that are framed by flavors of dark berry and chocolate.
A bold meal for a bold wine - a perfectly grilled ribeye, finished with homemade garlic butter.
