The one word the tasting panel kept using when describing today’s St. Amant Winery 2012 Speakeasy Red Wine? Delicious - they just couldn’t get enough!
St. Amant quickly became an Operative (and Agent!) favorite with their recent 100 Point Mohr-Fry Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel. Today’s proprietary blend hits many of the same notes, with loads of fresh dark cherry and spice throughout the palate. Lodi is quickly earning a reputation as the next big thing in California wine, and offerings like today’s are exactly why.
We have the password for today’s Speakeasy, and that’s Sell Out! Today’s wine won’t last the day, so please act fast!
Tasting Profile
Look: | Deep garnet in the heart of the glass, with a slightly lighter ruby fringe at its edge. |
---|---|
Smell: | A heady and aromatic blend of dark cherry cobbler, coffee beans, dark spice, unsweetened cherry cola, vanilla bean, sassafras, and a touch of dried tobacco leaf. |
Taste: | Well balanced and downright delicious, with loads of cherry, baked and fresh, leading the way on the palate. Trailing these robust notes of cherry are hints of toasted oak, dark baking spices, sweet tobacco, hints of cinnamon, and just a glimmer of lavender. |
Finish: | Rich and very smooth upon entry, the dark flavors coat the palate. The finish is well structured and lasting with mid palate spice and dark fruit that linger on the edge of the tongue. |
Pairing: | A chili-glazed hanger steak, grilled to perfection. |
