Tasting Profile

Look:

Beautiful coppery orange, almost bronze, in color, with a thick mousse of tiny bubbles.

Smell:

A really fresh and aromatic nose of fresh wild strawberry, honeydew melon, freshly cut sweet grass, a touch of guava and pineapple, and a kiss of hibiscus.

Taste:

Delightfully bright and crisp, with juicy tangerine, red raspberry, and red currant enveloping a touch of cranberry, lemongrass, lime flower, and lavender.

Finish:

A lovely plume of mousse fills the mouth, with a refreshing crispness and acidity that leaves a slight tingle on the tip of the tongue.

Pairing:

Your favorite tapas. We went with fire-grilled calamari drizzled with a lemon oregano sauce.

What the Winery Says

Murviedro, ‘Muri Veteres’ gets its name from the ancient walls that surround the old town that bore witness to an ancient spirit which, event today, wanders through the caves and cellars.Luna de Murviedro Rosé is the first cava rosé made by Bodegas Murviedro. Cava Brut is made from the grape variety Garnacha grown in the vineyards of Requena on the best quality soils that enjoy long hours of sunshine to reach optimum ripeness.

The finest Garnacha grapes are harvested at the beginning of September. Cold maceration in apneumatic press. Fementation at 14ºC in stainless steel tanks. In January a process called ‘tijaje’takes place where the new wine is bottled and the second fermentation occurs in the bottle. The Cava is stored in ‘rima’, special containers for holding the bottles in position, for 9 months.

Appearance: Thick mousse of fine well integrated bubbles. Colour: Deep bronze tinged. Aroma: Fresh with aromas of ripe red fruits. Taste: Light crisp, fresh with good acity and fruity finish.

About the Winery

Bodegas Murviedro was founded in 1927 as the Spanish subsidiary of the Swiss Schenk Group, one of the leading European companies in the wine sector. The company’s philosophy is based on combining the most modern winemaking techniques with grapes from traditional vineyards. The result is wines that meet the highest international quality standards, while maintaining their Spanish character and originality.

Bodegas Murviedro, one of the most important wineries in the Region of Valencia, has set up a new strategic plan with the aim of creating a global brand based don its strong international presence and creating a new international sales network. With this in mind, in September 2007 Diego Talavera joined the project as Sales & Marketing Director.

The whole team is working on the project of creating a new concept of wines for the winery, including the Denomination of Origin in which Murviedro is present (Valencia, Utiel- Requena, Alicante, Rueda, Rioja, Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla and Cava) from a brand-based outlook and with a medium-term vision of implementing a single brand with several product lines.
