Mission Briefing
Until the end of time
Today’s Miro Cellars 2012 Cuvée Sasha, Monte Lago Vineyard is a fantastic value. A blend of 68% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, and 12% Syrah, this juicy wine is a budget-friendly and food-fantastic wine that could just be the perfect daily drinker. It delivers big flavor - without the big price.
Cuvée Sasha is a fruit forward wine that is not at all astringent like many of the California GSM blends we’ve tasted. It is a delicious and ready to drink dinner wine that presents mouthfuls of fruit and flavor. Enjoy with something fatty or tangy cheeses. This wine will cleanse the palate between bites.
Today’s Miro offering is impressive for such a young wine - which has us looking forward to how it drinks over the next few years. Be sure to stock up!
Tasting Profile
Look: | Rich, dark scarlet, transitioning into a slightly lighter red ruby edge. Absolutely beautiful, with tall legs trailing down the glass. |
---|---|
Smell: | This bold, fruit-forward wine is a wonderful blend of bright red fruit and strong herbal notes, with fresh strawberry, raspberry, and cherry beautifully playing off thyme, sage, and white pepper. |
Taste: | Leading with strong fruit notes of dried raspberry and candied cherry, this wine balances nicely with flavors of dark chocolate, espresso bean, sweet vanilla bean, and a slight hint of eucalyptus. |
Finish: | Young and fresh, with just the right amount of acidity, the red fruit notes gradually give way to a subtle, pleasant tartness on the palate. |
Pairing: | We recommend having this food-friendly wine with a pan roasted lamb chop, served with herb crusted root vegetables. |
