2011 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Chardonnay •Durell Vineyard
California: Sonoma County: Sonoma Coast
Today’s Pip Wines 2011 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay was crafted from the Durell Vineyard, the very same vineyard that provides fruit for ultra-premium labels such as Kistler, Chateau St. Jean, and Chasseur.
A glistening bright gold in the glass, this wine has bright aromatic notes of lemon zest, vanilla bean, and white flower blossom leaping from the glass. On the palate, touches of soft butterscotch and Meyer lemon are framed by an invigorating, zippy acidity.
If you dig silky, clean finishing Chardonnays - with a pedigree that punches way above the price point - today’s Pip Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is the one for you.
A bright pale golden hue, like a ray of soft morning sunlight.
Refined and elegant on the nose, with aromas of Meyer lemon, white peach, and slight green apple complemented by a subtle oaky spice. Also present are hints of white flower petal and vanilla bean.
Very Burgundian on the palate, with a more subtle and restrained flavor profile. Well balanced flavors of Meyer lemon, lime flower, Granny Smith apple, slight brioche, sweet vanilla, and lemon curd form a delicious and delicate interplay.
With a lovely richness on entry, this is an easy and approachable Chardonnay, perfect for sipping. The finish is highlighted by hints of citrus, white flower, and sweet vanilla.
This easy-drinker would be perfectly paired with crispy prosciutto-wrapped asparagus.
