Mission Briefing

Steak, please!

We’re always on the lookout for a great Merlot here - especially during grilling season. With it’s juicy fruit flavors and subtle structure, the varietal is one of our go-tos when planning an evening around the barbecue.

We were thrilled when we discovered today’s outstanding Mazzocco Winery 2009 Dry Creek Valley Merlot before summer was out. It has the ripe, juicy fruit notes that we look for, plus a gentle kick of soft earth and spice to give it a touch of complexity.

Be sure to stock up on today’s 50% off delight. We can sense an Indian Summer - and extended grill time - ahead!

Tasting Profile

Deep, foreboding sanguine, very inky and incredibly dark.

A deep, dark classic California Merlot, with grilled black cherry and plum laid overtop cedar wood cigar box, cherry wood, dried rose petals, and black peppercorn.

Ripe fruit flavors greet you immediately, with Santa Rosa plum, black cherry, and juicy blackberry shining through. These fruit flavors are joined by notes of clove, sweet tobacco leaf, sandalwood, anise, dried earth, and soft dark spice.

Best decanted for the best drinking experience. Today’s wine is incredibly well made, with pleasant structure and velvety, fine tannins.

Grilled skirt steak, prepared with an Asian-flavored marinade, and served with fire roasted fingerling potatoes.
