Mission Briefing

Lake Effect

Agent Red loves his Cab Franc. And today’s Two Jakes of Diamonds 2011 Two Jakes of Diamonds Lake County Cabernet Franc is right up his alley.

Today’s wine drinks well now with a little decanting, but with its fantastic acidity and structure, this wine will turn into a masterpiece with a few years in the cellar. Today’s wine has clear notes of cherry, cinnamon, and dried earth, without any hint of “green” flavors that can sometimes hinder the varietal. Instead, today’s wine has clear herbal and mineral notes that add a beautiful complexity to its profile.

Buy at least three bottles, so that you can try it in its youth, and also explore the wine as it matures over the coming years.

Tasting Profile

Deep, slightly translucent crimson through and through.

Elegant and aromatic, with a delicious blend of Bing cherry and cranberry leading the way. These notes are joined by a touch of dry summer earth, California bay leaf, cinnamon, soft plum, and dried Provençal herbs.

A very balanced palate, with refined and well proportioned flavors. Plum and Bing cherry are laid overtop soft dark baking spices, mocha, lightly roasted coffee bean, and a subtle minerality that speaks to this wine’s lakeside vineyard source.

With beautiful acidity, fantastic structure, and a bit of a weighty mouthfeel, this gem will age wonderfully. It drinks beautifully now with a little decanting, but has the potential to turn into a masterpiece if laid down for a few years.

A classic dish of homemade eggplant parmesan.
