Mission Briefing
Jazzercise!
If a good Pinot Noir is like jazz music, then today’s Trecini Cellars 2012 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is fusion jazz. Today’s wine features all of the fantastic elements you love in a Pinot, with a bright and floral element that puts a bit of a groovy spin on the varietal.
Today’s wine immediately greets you with a clear, juicy note of Bing cherry. As one tasting panel member commented, the cherry flavor comes right out and says, ‘Hi!’ We also love how flavors of spice and earth beautifully complement this bright cherry core.
Please accept our heartiest recommendation on today’s delightful Russian River Pinot.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Bright ruby red, with swirls of darker black cherry blended throughout. |
---|---|
Smell: | Heady aromas beautifully leap from the glass, with sweet raspberry and juicy black cherry framed against dried rose petals, mushroomy earth, tobacco leaf, lightly roasted coffee bean, and a bit of dried Provençal herbs as well. |
Taste: | Upon the first sip, notes of Bing cherry come right out and say ‘Hi!’ This distinct cherry flavor is joined by hints of wild strawberry and black raspberry, quickly followed by spicy earth, brown baking spices, and freshly ground black peppercorn. All these flavors are incredibly well balanced and in perfect proportion to one another. |
Finish: | The full Pinot package: fantastic structure, with pleasant upfront acidity and a distinct ‘weighty’ feel to lingering notes of cherry. |
Pairing: | French cut lamb chops, served with a balsamic-fig reduction. |
