Mission Briefing
Elementary, my dear Watson
We didn’t know what to expect with today’s Apriori Cellars 2013 Napa Valley Red Blend. It certainly had the pedigree, after being produced by Patrice Breton. But a 2013 Napa Red - already?! After popping the cork on today’s wine, I’m not sure if our tasting panel has ever been proven more wrong about our initial assumptions.
Today’s wine is incredibly well balanced, with an attention to detail that belies its incredibly budget-friendly price point of $19.99. In fact, today’s wine drinks much like a Vice Versa wine, which routinely score 95+ points. A delightful combo of red and black fruit, with a sprinkle of hardy earth and subtle spice flavorings as well, today’s wine is perfect on its own or paired with a variety of meal options.
At this price, today’s wine is selling fast. Please hurry to secure your case of one of the finest low-priced Napa Reds we’ve ever seen.
Tasting Profile
Look: | A seemingly endless swirling whirlpool of dark crimson and pretty pink ruby colliding in the center of the glass after a hearty swirl or two. |
---|---|
Smell: | A heady, aromatic blend of fresh red and black fruit, highlighted by dark plum, cherry, and mulberry, with secondary notes of cinnamon, lightly roasted coffee bean, cocoa powder, black peppercorn, and toasty brown baking spices. |
Taste: | Delightfully well balanced, with a fruit forward, subtle style that is sure to please. Slightly braised cherry, plum, and blackberry are joined by notes of a summer bramble, sweet tobacco leaf, fresh cedar wood shavings, clove, baker’s chocolate, and a sprinkle of mocha. |
Finish: | Smooth on entry, today’s wine has a very approachable tannin structure, with just a bit of grip along the edges of the palate. |
Pairing: | A hearty cold weather stew of collard greens, chorizo, and fresh garlic. |
