The Tradition Continues
We LOVE today’s Burgess Cellars 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. And we have a sneaking suspicion that you will, too.
One of the best things about a high-end Napa Cabernet is the way the rich fruit flavors seem to completely envelope your palate, almost giving your mouth a big fruity hug. And that’s the first thing we noticed about today’s unbelievable wine. At our tasting panel, each member took a moment to simply smile after sipping today’s wine. Well structured, with luscious fruit and hints of earth, today’s Cab is everything we want in a big, hearty Napa Red.
Today’s wine continues Burgess Cellars’ fantastic record of incredible Estate Cabs. Please enjoy!
Tasting Profile
Look: | Almost inky magenta in the glass, with some baked cherry nuances as well. |
---|---|
Smell: | Bold notes of sweet plum and blackberry greet you initially, trailed by hints of sweet earth, tobacco leaf, sandalwood, dark baking spices, rosemary, and a touch of sage. |
Taste: | A serious Napa Cab. The wine features rich dark fruit flavors of plum, boysenberry, and black currant, which mingle with sweet tobacco leaf, fresh berry bramble, aged cedar wood, clove, anise, espresso bean, and subtle herbal undertones. |
Finish: | Incredibly smooth, with stunning mouth-enveloping flavors. Very well structured, with velvety tannins and a bright, zippy acidity. The finish leaves a delightfully subtle pucker along the edge of the palate. |
Pairing: | Seared skirt steak with blistered cherry tomatoes and polenta. |
