Today’s Sonoma Oaks 2013 Sonoma County Pinot Noir is an elegant Pinot crafted by our dear friends at Balletto Vineyards.

Balletto is well known for their outstanding wines, especially their out-of-this-world Pinots. Today’s offering from the Russian River Valley more than meets these lofty standards. With a touch of structure paired with elegant and nuanced red fruit flavors, today’s wine is deliciously complex. The exclamation point on today’s wine? It’s only $19.99!

Please enjoy our boldest recommendation on today’s fantastic, wallet friendly Pinot.

Tasting Profile

Look:

A beautiful, glimmering ruby, with swirls of dark crimson and scarlet meeting in the center of the glass.

Smell:

Very soft, almost ethereal aromatics slowly emerge in today’s Pinot. Bright raspberry and Santa Rosa plum are joined by dry summer earth, sweet tobacco leaf, red currant, dried cranberry, and a splash of peppercorn spice.

Taste:

Beautifully elegant, with a fine balance of refined earth, spice, and fruit. A fruity core of black raspberry, wild strawberry, and dried cranberry is framed against clove, black herbal tea, sweet tobacco, and soft dried earth.

Finish:

A touch of structure in the finish really elevates today’s wine. The flavors linger, with a bit of pomegranate staying with you until the end.

Pairing:

Grilled turkey breast, served with caramelized onions, freshly cracked black peppercorn, and apple cider vinegar.
