Laube declared, “There’s never been a better time to be a lover of California Cabernet Sauvignon, a category undeniably powered by the performance of Napa Valley wines. Don’t let the higher prices for some wines scare you off. There are scores of excellent wines in the $60-and-below range.”
Antonio Galloni says, “2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: An Epic Vintage…The 2010s are magnificent, viscerally thrilling wines loaded with character and personality!”
Tasting Profile
Look: | Dark purple with a foreboding, opaque core. Long, chubby, garnet-colored legs cling to the glass when the wine is swirled. |
---|---|
Smell: | Lush and layered with bold aromas of mixed black fruit, sweet spice, toasty vanilla, baker’s chocolate and flinty minerals with undertones of earthy bramble and dried fall leaves. |
Taste: | Bright and bold with big flavors of dark berry compote, dark plum skin, cassis liquor, Bing cherry chocolate, mixed spice, oak and a hint of minerality. |
Finish: | Exceedingly long, with black fruit flavors that dwindle very gradually. As the fruits fade, oak and minerals persist, inviting your next long sip. |
Pairing: | Enjoy this elegant beast of a wine with something big. We’ll be enjoying ours with a garlic and pepper rubbed Porterhouse smothered in mushrooms! |
