Schug Carneros Estate
2012 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
California: Sonoma County: Sonoma Coast
Raising the roof
We’ve always had a thing for the wines of Schug Carneros Estate. Today’s Schug Carneros Estate 2012 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay only reinforces our love.
Today’s wine is a shining example of just how well Walter Schug and his winemaking team understand Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. This wine expresses a great deal of fruit and complexity. In the right hands, Sonoma Coast Chardonnay should be this expressive, but it almost always falls short of its potential. This is where Walter’s decades of experience come in.
Enjoy this wine with a wide array of food pairings. We’ll be enjoying our bottles with our wintertime celebrations!
Golden yellow hues and glinting edges give this wine a very pretty visual appeal.
On the nose, this wine is Burgundy meets California with balanced aromas of citrus, tropical fruits, subtle minerals and a hint of straw.
On the palate, this wine expresses a great deal of citrus, especially at the front palate. These flavors are followed by fresh pineapple, subtle guava, white flower petals and a hint of flinty mineral.
Very long, punctuated by flint and a very subtle hint of white pepper.
Enjoy this wine as an aperitif, with a plate of fruit and assorted cheeses. For a meal pairing, enjoy with crab legs, a roast chicken or nearly any grilled or poached fish.
