2011 Bernier Zinyard Zinfandel

Oh, Peterson, how we love thee. Your wines never fail to delight us.
Today’s Peterson Winery 2011 Bernier Zinyard Zinfandel is a true single vineyard marvel that we fell in love with on first sniff. And before we took that sip, we were lured in by the layered aromatics that wafted from the glass.
This wine is beautifully balanced, richly layered and so very delicious. Fruit, earth and spice all work together in wonderful harmony. If you’ve never tried a Peterson Dry Creek Valley Zin, this is a wonderful chance to buy one at one heck of a great price.
Deep garnet with a slightly opaque heart. At the edges of the wine, a fine ring of shining ruby encircles the wine.
Fragrant and plummy and deliciously spicy, with undertones of cedar, cocoa nib, bramble and rich spice.
Beautifully balanced, with rich layers of fruit, earth and spice. This wine exudes rich blackberry preserve, wild strawberry and plum with earthy bramble, dried fall leaves, black pepper and subtle allspice and clove.
The finish is exceedingly long, led by dark fruits that linger very slowly. At the very end, as fruit diminishes, earthy spice lingers on for a long time.
Enjoy this wonderful winter Zin with a rich roast with potatoes and carrots, or a perfectly grilled steak.
