Mission Briefing
The Queen of Zinfandel
Today’s 2011 Stephen & Walker Trust Winery Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is a delightfully rich and delicious wine. We are pleased to offer you this wine with our hearty recommendation.
This wonderful Zinfandel is a big, delicious treat that is loaded with layers of flavor. On the palate, the wine is smooth and elegant. Heady, lush aromas leap from the glass to greet your nose with the most natural and inviting bouquet of fruit, spice and woodsy notes.
If you are a fan of great Zinfandel, you know that the Dry Creek Valley is one of the finest Zin-producing AVAs (American Viticultural Areas) in California. Or, is that the World? Today’s wine is a shining example of just how excellent Zin from this region can be.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Dark and rich, with deep garnet hues at the core and purple at the edges. |
---|---|
Smell: | Pretty raspberry and strawberry jump from the glass. These are quickly followed by blackberry, black cherry, bramble and sweet plum. At the tail end, subtle clove and black pepper round out the nose. |
Taste: | On the palate, sweet blackberry compote, dark strawberry, dark chocolate, espresso bean and sweet spice lead the way. As the wine opens up, it unpacks subtle spice and cocoa dust. |
Finish: | Silky, long and very delightful with a finish that begins with sweet fruit and finishes with dusty chocolate, dusty rose and mild dry tobacco. |
Pairing: | While this wine is very elegant, we can’t help but recommend that you enjoy it with your favorite BBQ dishes. We’ll enjoy ours with perfectly-cooked pork tenderloin with a Kansas City BBQ sauce. |
