2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt.Veeder
California: Napa Valley: Mt. Veeder
Over the Mountain
This is a special wine from a venerable vineyard atop Mount Veeder. Their 2011 significantly outperforms many Napa Valley Cabernets from the challenging vintage. In any vintage, this is a 15-25 year wine. Treat yourself to a fabulous, one of a kind, Napa Valley superstar winery.

“Absolutely stunning, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder is a beauty. Notes of charcoal, blueberry liqueur, black currants, licorice, incense and violets jump from the glass of this 93.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.5% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc blend that was aged in 91% new French oak. This full-bodied 2011 is a tremendous success for the vintage, again reflecting that mountain sites often did very well, and taste like a completely different vintage than the valley floor 2011s. This savory, fleshy wine has low acidity and ripe tannin, so it can be drunk now or cellared for a decade or more.”

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is gorgeous. Blueberry, blackberry, cloves, menthol, spices and licorice are all woven together in a Cabernet Sauvignon that is relatively soft and supple for a mountain wine. Sweet perfumed notes flesh out on a highly expressive finish laced with violets, jasmine and lavender…This is an absolutely beautiful bottle of wine.”
Vivid purple, saturated, gorgeous.
Super blueberry! With stone, pencil, flowers, and exquisite French oak. Young and exuberant. Spot on now, but nowhere near the target drinking nirvana that could be achieved with cellaring.
Dense, blue to black fruit with mountain character, tannins, and Soave tastes. Real deal Cabernet, and easily a candidate for top Napa Valley Cabernet in 2011. So. Good. Spiffy tasting.
Long and strong. It has bones and good looks. Spiced compote of juicy mountain Cabernet with first class assemblage. Bravo!
A few sizzling cowboy cuts on the grill, along with a big old salad with pomegranate and French feta. Foie something, too.
