Mission Briefing

The Infinite

Starting with the 2006 vintage of this wine, we’ve tasted all successive vintages. Not only is this 2011 the best of the bunch, today’s Ottimino 2011 Rancho Bello Vineyard Zinfandel is the best Zin that we’ve had the good fortune to taste all this year!

Winegrower Brad Alper and winemaker Bill Knuttle make a formidable team. The sole focus of their Ottimino label is on the noble Zinfandel varietal - and wow, do they nail it!

Today’s wine is lush, layered, aromatic and so very delicious.

Ottimino allowed us exclusive access to their library, but there isn’t very much of this fantastic wine left. Zinfandel lovers are encouraged to take advantage while they can.

Tasting Profile

Deep and inky with lovely maroon hues from core to edge.

Very aromatic, with wafting aromas of mixed black and red fruit that mingle with white pepper, dusty bramble, and dried tobacco leaf with hints of cinnamon and clove.

Bold and juicy, with rich layers of fruit and spice. Out in front, flavors of blackberry and black cherry preserve lead the way. These are quickly followed by dried fall leaves, earthy bramble and mixed sweet spice.

Exceedingly long and very elegant.

Pair with… nearly anything! This juicy Zin would be especially great with a charred cowboy steak.
